Leduc Square Dance is the online presence of the Happy Homesteaders Square Dance Club, founded in September 1981 in New Sarepta with the first club dance held in October, 1981. The club adopted a covered wagon logo, and chose royal blue, white, and crimson as club colours. When the club first started, uniforms were all the rage. The ladies had royal blue skirts, white blouses, and red belts, while the men wore royal blue pants with cuffs, white shirts, red ties, and red suspenders.

Today, we have modernized in step with the times, focusing on inclusivity, relaxed attire, and a welcoming atmosphere. While traditional costumes are still a fun option for those who enjoy them, members are now encouraged to wear any clothing that keeps them comfortable and expressive—all that's required are shoes suited for dancing. The club continues to embody "Friendship, Fitness & Fun!" with vibrant community events, beginner-friendly lessons, and social opportunities after every dance. With an emphasis on connection and enjoyment, the Happy Homesteaders have become a lively group where everyone feels at home, blending tradition with modern charm.

We run a number of programs to serve our members and to give back to the community, including:
• Introduction to Square Dance
• Cued Ballroom Dancing (For experienced dancers; not offering instruction at this time)
• Club Dances at various levels
• A wide variety of music and a relaxed dress code
• A New Dancer Jamboree for the Leduc area [Cancelled for 2022-4 while we rebuild]
• Homesteader Night, a dinner and dance for the local square dance community
• S.T.A.R.S. Benefit dance, open to the community, where we typically raise around $1500 for the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society.  Come and enjoy our dancing and give a donation to help keep STARS in the sky.
• Christmas Tour to entertain at seniors residences
• Occasional Social Activities
The club is actively seeking members - couples, singles, families (yes, bring the kids but expect them to take part), youth, seniors.  Anyone who enjoys moving to music, is friendly, wants to have fun, is willing to listen, learn, and laugh is fully qualified!
