GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Welcome to our wacky event, where you’ll drive around in circles and eventually end up at a mystery destination to dance to a mystery caller. Despite the image above, this is not a race. We just borrowed the “Amazing Race” sign. You are competing against the game, not the other teams.
You’ll form teams of four to five per car [a maximum of 10 cars, might go to 12 if interest is high] to visit local attractions, learn more about our club, and perhaps find places you haven’t been or might like to revisit later this summer. We encourage you to fill your car for greater socialization and fun.
Why limit the number of teams? Logistics. We need nine envelopes for each team plus contents. That’s enough photocopying and stuffing and organizing and handing out to keep us busy!
Each team should have a charged-up smart phone–it will help you to solve the clues and to plan your route. You will travel roughly 125 km in about 3.5 hours.
You will receive a set of numbered envelopes. Each envelope will contain
- a cryptic clue to the next destination (top points)
- an “I give up, just tell me” clue (no points)
- a task or challenge to do when you reach the destination (for points)
Teams will start off a minute or two apart. You’ll open Clue #1 here in Leduc, then open each subsequent envelope as instructed at each stop. Unlike The Amazing Race on TV, we don’t have a production team to set up boxes with clues at each location. So you’ll get ALL your clue envelopes right at the start! We’ll trust you to open them in order.
Some envelopes will also contain a game of some sort to keep your team occupied while driving (DRIVERS: “Keep your mind on your driving, keep your hands on the wheel, keep your snoopy eyes on the road ahead!”) Answers will be available at the dance. Bragging rights for top scores, maybe some prizes.

EMERGENCY
If you get totally lost, open the next clue to get back on track. If you’re running really late or just give up on the race, open the last clue and head for the dance!
SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
- Please drive carefully. We want everybody to arrive safely at the final destination.
- This is not a race, and there are no points for getting anywhere first. You will probably meet other teams over and over at each stop.
- At any stop – Hide any valuables. Lock your vehicle while you are out and about.
MEALS & PIT STOPS
- One of your stops will be a meal break, where you will have a choice of fast food restaurants. A sit down meal is fine but plan to skip a couple of clues depending on how long you dine.
- Availability of toilets will be indicated in the clues
- Coffee, water, and light snacks will be provided at the dance.
