A huge thanks to all the dancers and musicians who entertained at Leduc's Trade Fair on June 3 and 4. We had three squares on Friday, and a square with backup dancers on Saturday to entertain visitors with the color, whirl and swirl of old-time and modern square dance.
Thanks to old-time callers Donna Ingram and Tom Gray, and to modern callers Gary Winters and Ken Sipe for keeping us moving to both the fiddle tunes and recorded music.
Thanks to CDCDA for sponsoring the event (along with the Black Gold Rodeo and the Wild Rose Old Tyme Fiddlers Association).
Thanks to all the Leduc square dancers who manned the booth during the four days of the fair. We handed out about 160 brochures and a huge bowl of candy. There were 138 entries for the door prize. The Tim Hortons Gift Pack was donated by CDCDA, and two tickets to the Grand North American Old Time Fiddle Championship were donated by the Wild Rose Old Tyme Fiddlers Association
The prize was won by Emily R., age 16, of Leduc. Emily plays violin and looks forward to enjoying her tickets to the Fiddle Championship in July. Congratulations, Emily.

The Wild Rose Old Tyme Fiddlers Association exists to encourage, foster and develop an appreciation of Old Tyme Fiddle Music in a spirit of friendship, and to preserve this musical heritage for our generation and for future generations to enjoy. To this end, they host fiddle contests, dances. fiddle camps, and other special events.
Leduc Square Dance is the online presence of the Happy Homesteaders Square Dance Club. Founded in Sept. 1981, the group moved to Leduc two years later and except for two years when shut down by COVID-19, has danced continuously since.
