A night of square dancing is cheaper than a meal at McD's -- and better for you!  For just $90, you can enjoy 13 lively dance sessions at Leduc Square Dance Club from September to December. We also offer discount pricing for youth and families, making it an affordable family activity.

Each session features engaging dances, where four couples form a square and follow unique calls for basic movements, creating an exciting and unpredictable puzzle every time.

You’ll groove to an incredible variety of music, from pop and Motown to traditional country, Broadway hits, and even techno and hip-hop. It’s a vibrant, toe-tapping experience that promises enjoyment for everyone.

Music, Music, Music!

Yee-haw! Country is many people's stereotype of square dance. Yessiree-Bob, that can shore be a heap o' fun! It was typical of old-time square dance, and is still popular when we put on a Barn Dance or Hoedown. In fact, to some of our oldest dancers (75+ and still going strong), "If it ain't country, it ain't square dance music."

However, today's dancers enjoy all kinds of music, from rock to pop to classical, with the occasional recent hit thrown in. What's important is that toe-tapping-body-swaying beat!

P.S. Each caller has a favorite slant and playlist. Our caller, Gary Winter, uses a wide range of music weighted to contemporary hits. Other callers may lean towards country or classic rock. This is why visiting other clubs, or dancing to guest callers, is a great experience.

Square Dance Clothing?

No special shoes, no fancy clothes!

Unlike activities that require special gear or equipment, square dancing is easy on the wallet. Many of our members enjoy "traditional" getup -- bright, colorful dresses with crinolines for the gals and matching western wear for the guys -- the kind of thing you see in old western movies from the 1950s or maybe during Rodeo Week. It's just part of the fun and history.

Casual dress is common. For others, and especially new dancers, "dressy casual" is the norm. You're welcome to get some "old-time dancin' duds" if that appeals to you --we hold "clothing bazaars" at the start of every dance season with items low-cost or free.

NOTE: If one of our members starts insisting you need to get "appropriate square dance attire", you're welcome to smile and say, "No thanks, not my style." While we do dress up for demonstrations and special dances, such attire is NOT required for lessons or club dances.

Our hall prefers clean, indoor footwear that's not going to mar or scuff their nice floor. Dance shoes with smooth leather soles are best, and some dancers wear cowboy boots, but clean runners or any shoe with a soft sole will do. Nylon slip-overs are an inexpensive alternative. Be sure you wipe your shoes well before you go on the dance floor.
