Square Dancers and Old Tyme Fiddlers Entertain at Trade Fair
For Immediate Release
Leduc, AB – June 6, 2022: Emily R., 16, of Leduc, won a big prize at the Black Gold Rodeo Trade Fair last weekend. The prize, with a value of $170, consisted of a Tim Hortons Gift Pack donated by the Community Dance Capital District Association, and two tickets to the Grand North American Old Time Fiddle Championship donated by the Wild Rose Old Tyme Fiddlers Association. Emily plays violin and looks forward to enjoying her tickets to the Fiddle Championship in July. “I’ve been playing for about a year, and it’s so exciting to be able to go to this championship,” she said.
Square dancers in colourful traditional outfits entertained with the whirl and swirl of old-time and modern square dance at Leduc's Trade Fair on June 3 and 4, dancing to both recorded music and the live music of the Wild Rose Fiddlers from Edmonton. Callers Donna Ingram and Tom Gray each led a traditional-style dance, while Gary Winters and Ken Sipe kept the dancers moving to both the fiddle tunes and modern music.
The dance event was jointly organized by the BG Rodeo Association, the CDCDA, the Wild Rose Fiddlers, and Leduc’s Happy Homesteaders Square Dance Club.
The club will dance Wednesday evenings starting on September 21.
